When connecting my RoadPilot Pro to my PC after installing the software, why does it indicate offline?
Make sure that there is an R logo by your clock, if not start RoadPilot Sync by running it from your Windows Start menu: Start/Programs/RoadPilot/RoadPilot Sync.
Make sure you are running the latest version of RoadPilot Sync. The current versions can be downloaded from our support page.
If the drivers are not installed this could be the cause of the problem. Please review the Installation Guides on our support page.
If you have any program running the background like: 1. Active Sync 2. HotSync 3. Nokia PC Suite 4. or equivalent software for connecting to a handheld PC or mobile phone
This could cause connection problems and we would suggest closing the running application (you may need to use device manager to close the application).
Once the applications has been closed or terminated you may need to re-start RoadPilot Sync by right clicking the R logo and selecting exit and the starting is again using the above instructions.

My RoadPilot comes up with a warning triangle as apposed to the usual speed warning in a circle, what does this mean?
This means that you have stored a user location either by accident or you have noticed a missing camera and added this location. If you now wish to remove this location from your RoadPilot what you will need to do is
1. When you encounter this user location press the delete location button. 2. The screen will then display that it is deleting the location in 5 seconds and start counting down. 3. Once the count down has finished the user location will be removed.

After performing a download my unit will only displays the bootloader screen and nothing else. How can I fix this?
To fix this issue you will need to obtain the latest version of RoadPilot Sync from the support page on our web site. Once you have downloaded the software and installed it, please restart your PC. Once restarted perform a synchronisation as normal and the problem will be resolved.
Why does my unit spend a lot of time offline, take a long time to come online or frequently goes on and offline seemingly at random?
If this is the first time that the RoadPilot is powered up or if it has been left idle for a long time, the initial power can take a long time to come online as the RoadPilot is communicating with the satellites and learning their position. This can take up to 20 minutes, but after this the RoadPilot should come online quicker.
If this is not the first time that the RoadPilot has been powered up or it takes 30 minutes or longer then this can be caused by a few things. If you have a UV/Heat reflective or Athurmic windscreen this will cause poor GPS reception. If you are unsure please contact your vehicle manufacturer to clarify. If you do have one of these windscreens then usually there will be a spot on the screen that is free from this coating and you could position your antenna there (please check with your vehicle manufacturer).
If you windscreen is heated (like the rear window but with finer metal elements) this can cause GPS signals to dissipate causing poor GPS reception. If you are unsure please confirm with your vehicle manufacturer and again there are usually parts of the screen that are free from this which enables you to position the antenna there.
If the antenna cable has been coiled this could also cause poor reception, random drop outs or slow start ups. If you could run the cable in lengths this should improve the GPS reception.
If you are still finding that the GPS reception is poor then please contact technical support on 0844 4487777.

Can I perform an update using an Apple Mac?
Unfortunately none of our products are designed to work with Apple Computers. You can, however, use a software package called Parallels (other software packages are available) to create a Windows environment on your Apple Computer. You will also need a 32bit version of Windows (2000, XP, Vista or 7) to install. You can discuss the options further with your local Apple Store.
